Challenge: Jessie and Katie
have been dating a few months(anywhere from 3-6...author chooses) and have just "come
out" about their relationship. Write a fic about their first official date. Must
include at least 2 of the following:
-Black lace
-A run in with a parent (or step-parent) of Jessie or Katie
-A waitress/sales clerk/whatever(must be female!) flirting with oneof the girls
-Tad. In any way, shape, or form. Just Tad.
-Some reference to one of Mischa's movies
-Ice cubes
-Cheerios

Sammler Household
Katie hummed quietly as she walked up to the door of the Sammler household. She smiled
happily and twirled as though she were Michael Jackson, the only difference was she didn't
grab her crotch. In her mind she was listenting to one of her favorite songs, Aaliyah's
song More Than a Woman. Tuning out the music in her mind she knocked politely on the door
then took a step back and straightened up. She couldn't whip the smile off her lips. After
all, it was she and Jessie's first actual date. She had every reason to be happy, right?
Jessie opened the door and stepped out. Her mom and Henry had gone out tonight thank God,
otherwise her mother would have given Katie the third degree. Karen loved to play the role
of the overly
concerned mother. Even though she knew Katie and had guessed at the duo's relationship she
had still enjoyed asking Katie embarassing questions saying it was her duty as Jessie's
mother.
"Hey...," said Jessie, wondering why this moment felt so awkward.
"Hey...," responded Katie nervously.
They stood there for a few moments looking at each other. Then Katie, unable to help herself, laughed. Jessie soon joined her then as their laughter died down she linked her arm with Katie's and the duo walked towards Katie's forest green explorer.

Chilli's, Later that night
"Singer, table for two!," called out the hostess.
Katie raised her hand, "that's us."
She and Jessie stood up and the hostess gave an overly cheery smile and said, "right this way."
Katie stifled a laugh as did Jessie, she leaned over and whispered into her girlfriend's ear, "I wonder how much they pay her to smile like that."
Jessie shrugged and responded, "not enough, I could never smile like that all night."
"I could," stated Katie proudly.
"Oh really," asked Jessie as the two took their seats across from each other at a small window table.
"Yes really," said Katie cautiously.
"Then do it," dared Jessie with a wicked grin.
"Fine...but only because I love you so much," responded Katie as she started smiling.
Jessie couldn't help but give a laugh as seeing her girlfriend smiling like some stewardess on an airplane.

Five Minutes Later
"I can't do it," said Katie as she dropped the smile and gingerly rubbed her
cheeks.
Jessie grinned, "ohh...poor baby."
"Hey now! It really does hurt," whined Katie.
"Oh my God," said Jessie.
"Well it doesn't hurt that bad..."
"Katie duck!"
"What," questioned Katie wondering why her girlfriend was lowering herself in her seat, as though she were trying to hide behind the table.
That's when Katie heard the voice, "hey girls!"
Katie's eyes went wide, uh oh, she thought, then she turned around, "hi Mrs. Sammler."
"I told you not to call me that Katie, my name is Karen."
"Ok then, hi Karen, hey Henry," said Katie.
Then Karen noticed Jessie trying to hide and she raised a brow, "are you ok honey?"
Jessie straightened up in her chair, "uhh..yea mom, I'm fine."
"Oh, ok, well me and Henry are sitting right behind you! Isn't that great," asked Karen wickedly, she was definately enjoying watching her daughter fidget nervously in her chair.
"Oh....yea...great," mumbled Jessie.
"Ok, well we'll see you two later," stated Karen then she looked at Katie and pulled a Robert de Niro from Meet the Parents. She did the little, "I'm watching you" motion as she mouthed the words, "I'm still watching you." Katie gulped and shrunk in her chair. Jessie turned away as her face changed to bright red.
Just then their waitress, Leah, showed up with their food. Thank God, thought Jessie, happy for the distraction. She placed the food in front of each of the girls then she looked over at Jessie for the hundreth time that night. Katie raised a brow, this waitress was starting to get on her nerves. Leah had dark brown hair that reached to just past her shoulders in loose curls and she had big dark chocolate eyes. Jessie gave a weak smile back, not wanting to be rude, but not wanting to give the wrong impression either.
"Well if I can get ya'll anything else just let me know," said Leah with her cute southern accent, giving Jessie a discreet wink before she turned and walked away.

10 Minutes Later
"Singer!"
Katie looked up from her food and her eyes went wide again as she thought, oh no.
"Sammler!"
Jessie looked up from her food and her eyes narrowed slightly as she thought, you've got to be kidding me.
"Tad," said Katie, her voice obviously lacking the enthusiam he'd had in his voice.
"So what're you two doing," said Tad grinning, oblivious to the lack of enthusiam in Katie's voice, he took it upon himself to take a seat at their table.
"We were just trying to have a date," said Jessie hoping Tad would get the hint.
"Oh...me too, see, she's right over there," said Tad waving over to his date, who was sitting across the room, she waved back.
"Then why are you over here," asked Katie.
"We decided to come here after we watched...uhh...what was that flick again? Ummm...oh yea, Lost and Delirious! It was ok, after all it was about some gay girls," said Tad with a grin, he'd obviously misunderstood Katie's question.
Katie rolled her eyes, "shut up Tad."
"Fine...but you two should definately check it out, after all there was this seriously hot girl...uhh Mischa Barton, yea she was fine," said Tad.
"Oh yea she's that hottie from Tart," said Jessie enthusiatically.
Katie looked at her suprised, then Tad stood, "well I better not keep...Sandra waiting, bye Sammler, bye Singer," said Tad with his usually habit of calling people by their last names.
"Later Tad," said Katie.
"Bye Tad," said Jessie.
Then Katie turned to look at Jessie with a suprised look on her face, "that hot girl Mischa Barton?"
Jessie grinned embarassedly as she nodded, "yea...but don't worry you're ten thousand times hotter."
Katie grinned, "better be."

5 Minutes Later
Leah returned and filled up the girls glasses shooting Jessie another smile then turning
and walking off. Jessie shook her head as she let out a small laugh and Katie
grinned.
"Hey Jess," said an older guy's voice. Jessie sighed, not another one, she thought as she looked up to see who it was. "Hey Katie," said Rick.
"Hey Jess, hey Katie," said the rest of the clan including, Grace, Zoe, Lily, Judy, and Sam.
"Hey everybody," said Katie with a grin on her lips.
"Hi," said Jessie with a small wave, this night just keeps getting better and better she thought.
Then Karen stood up with Henry and started talking to Judy while Henry talked to Sam. Soon everyone was talking right in front of Jessie and Katie's table. Katie quietly signaled to Leah that she wanted their check and, after paying, the two slipped off quietly and unnoticed.

Back at the Sammler Household
Katie pulled up to Jessie's mothers house and parked the car. She got out of the car and
walked up to the door with Jessie. When they came to the door Katie stopped and turned to
look at Jessie.
"Well....I had a good time," said Jessie a little unsure of what to do.
"Yea...me too," responded Katie.
"Umm...goodnight then," said Jessie.
"What I don't get a goodnight kiss," asked Katie playfully with a grin on her lips.
"How could I have been so stupid as to forget," said Jessie turning and kissing her girlfriend.
Katie kissed back as her arms slid around Jessie and pulled the younger girl closer to her. When Jessie pulled back she rested her forehead against Katie's as she looked up into the older girls eyes.
"Thanks for the date Katie," said Jessie as she lightly kissed her girl again then turned and walked inside.
"Welcome...," Katie said quietly to the door as she turned and walked back to her car still in a bit of a daze.
