PART 2

*The Attic*

Thank God it's Saturday. It's not that Jessie doesn't like school, it's just that it's getting tiring after a while, that's all. She has a lot of homework, of course. She always does. School is going good. She's getting good grades. Meeting new people. She accidentally ran into that Katie girl the other day. Hmm, Katie. Now there's someone interesting. She has seen her around before, and thought she looked nice. But Jessie was really shy and quiet, so there was no way she was going to go up to one of the most popular girls at school. No possible way!

*Manning House*

Great, just as Grace was starting to eat, the phone rings.

"Hello?" Grace asked with a mouth full of potato chips

"Uh, hi Grace. Its Katie."

"Um..hey, what's up?"

"Nothing really, I was just wondering, did we have any homework in Mr. Dimitri's class?" Katie asked

"Uh, Katie, you know he doesn't give homework over the weekend." Grace replied somewhat concerned.

Katie let out a short, obviously fake laugh. "Huh, yeah that's right. Well, uh I will see you on Monday then, bye." Katie said hanging up quickly

~*Hmm, that was weird*~ Grace thought while finishing her sandwich.

*Katie's House*

God, that was so stupid of her. Of course she knew she didn't get homework over the weekend. But, that's not the real reason she called. She was hoping that Jessie would answer the phone instead of Grace. It's not that she doesn't like Grace, I mean she is kinda cute, but she really wanted to talk to that Jessie chick. She knew she was shy and quiet, but maybe she could get her to open up more. Especially to her. It's not like Katie didn't have plenty of friends, cuz believe me she did. But Jessie seems like a sweet, and caring young girl, that she wouldn't mind befriending. She could always use another kind friend, instead of someone like Sarah Grassa. God, she didn't even want to get started on her. She is ok, but she really can't stand her that much. Sure they've been going out for a while, but she was starting to get tired of her. She gets really annoying and bitchy. Well, she'll just have to break up with her then. If she wanted to pursue any kind of relationship with Jessie, then she couldn't have anyone standing in her way.

*Monday At School*

Katie saw Grace talking to Jessie, and decided to walk up to them.

"Hey Grace, hey Jess." Katie said, never actually looking at Grace

"Oh, hey Katie, well I was just leaving, so Jessie is all yours." Grace replied, winking at Katie as she said this. Fortunately only Katie caught it, and started blushing.

"Uh, hey."

"Hi Katie" Jessie answered shyly

"So, what did you do this weekend?"

"Um, nothing really, just hung out with my family and did homework. What about you?"

"Ahh, absolutely nothing. I was so frickin bored the whole damn weekend."

Jessie laughed. "Yeah, so, are you and Grace good friends?"

"Me and Grace. No, not really, we talk a little and have some of the same classes together, but were not really close, ya know."

"Yeah, I can totally understand. Grace can be such a pain in the ass, at least you don't have to live with her."

This time Katie laughed. "Yeah, so who do you sit with at lunch?"

"No one really, sometimes I sit with Grace, but that's all."

"Ya know, you could always sit with me and my friends. Some of my friends are pretty annoying, but I just learned to block them out."

"Thanks, I really appreciate it."

The bell rang, and they stared at each other for a while before they both said they had to go and headed off in different directions.

*After School*

Jessie was walking toward the bus, when she saw Katie heading towards her.

"Hey Jess. You ride the bus?"

"Yeah, I do. It sucks though."

"Ya know, I could give you a ride, whenever you wanted one."

"Ok, thanks" Jessie replied with a smile on her face.

"So...do you want one?"

"Sure"

*The Drive Home*

They were driving, and neither of them had said anything for that past five minutes. Katie just pulled into Jessie's driveway.

"Uh, thanks Katie. I will see you tomorrow." Jessie said while she was getting out of the car. But Katie grabbed onto her arm before she could get out.

"Anytime. Um you know, we should do something sometime, I mean if you wanted to that is."

Jessie smiled. "Thanks, yeah that would be good."

Katie got out a piece of paper and a pen and wrote her number on it. "Here. Give me a call anytime. I don't care when, just anytime ok?"

"Ok, thanks. Thanks again Katie. Bye"

Katie finally let go of her arm and stared at her while she walked into her house. Jessie looked back one last time and waved before going inside.

*The Attic*

Someone just knocked on the door.

"Who is it?"

"It's Grace. Can I come up?"

"Sure, come on in" Jessie replied

As Grace walked in she saw Jessie lying on her bed. "So, what did you want?"

"How did you get home?" Grace asked, while starting to form a smile because she already knew the answer.

"Oh, a friend gave me a ride"

"Oh, it was Katie huh"

"Yeah it was," Jessie said while Grace gave her that weird look again.

"What's with you and those weird looks?"

Grace laughed. "Me, oh nothing, it's just, well......you know what, I think I hear my mom calling me." Grace said while starting to head off, but Jessie stopped her.

"No, your not leaving. Now tell me what's going on." Jessie said starting to get annoyed.

Again grace let out a short laugh. "Look it's nothing," Jessie gave her a look. "Im serious, Jess. It's nothing ok?"

Jessie squinted her eyes. "Fine, whatever. You can go"

"Ok. Oh and tell Katie I say hi." Grace said with a huge grin on her face

~*Ugh, what the hell is Grace on*~

*Katie's Room*

The phone rang, and Katie had to run to get it.  "Hello?" Katie asked breathing heavily

"Katie, are you okay?" Jessie asked a little worried

*~Oh my God, Jessie called me!*~  "Uh, yeah I'm fine. I just had to run to get the phone, that's all."

"Oh, ok."

"Yeah so, what did ya want?" Katie asked. She was happy that Jessie called her.

"Oh, right. I just wanted to say thank you. You know for everything."

"Oh, it's nothing really"

"No, it is. You barely even know me and your treating me extremely nice, so thanks."

Katie was starting to blush "Yeah, no prob."

"So, do you think I can have a ride from school tomorrow too. I mean, if it's not too much trouble"

"Yeah. Like I said anytime you want Jess. Just give me a call and we can work things out."

"Yeah thanks. Well I better get going. It's getting kind of late."

"Ok. I will see you tomorrow Jess. Goodnight."

"Goodnight"

They each sat there for a while before actually hanging up.  And as they both started to fall asleep that night, they were thinking of each other.
