Together Again
by Katie

Writer's note: Unless there's a big following from the final installments of TA, I will be taking a long hiatus to focus on my midterms and so forth. It has been a pleasure and I hope you enjoy.
Quick note: Jessie hasn't caught on that Sarah is Madison's therapist and Sarah doesn't know that Jessie is Madison's mom. All Sarah knows is that Madison's parents are James and Jessie Walker; none of Madison's papers had Jessie's name changed back to her maiden name. And both will find out that Madison is their missing link if you will…

PART 20

A few days before the wedding…

"Well Jess," Katie began. "I think we're just about set for the wedding." She let out a small sigh. "I can't believe the day is finally just around the corner. I remember when I thought I'd never be as happy as I am right now."

"Oh Katie, I know what you mean." Just then, Katie put down the flower arrangements she was working on and walked over towards Jessie, who was at the kitchen table double-checking to make sure everything with the caterers was in working order. She then leaned over Jess, and planted a soft kiss on Jess's forehead. By the looks of things, nothing could go wrong and nothing could come between them…

The telephone ringing squashed one of the thousands of perfect moments the two had spent together. Both girls began to open their eyes and Jess went for the phone.

"Hello, Dr. Sammler speaking."

"Dr. Sammler as in Jessie Sammler?" the man on the other end asked, with an elderly British accent.

"Yes, that would be me. Who's calling?"

"I'm surprised you don't remember this voice. It's Mr. Snow, your old landlord in London."

This caught Jessie off guard. She wondered why he was calling and better yet, how he got her number.

There was a slight silence from Jessie's end. She wasn't quite sure what to do or say next.

"Now, I know what you must be thinking. Why would I be calling you after 30 some odd years and how did I get this number. Well, it's quite simple really. I'm selling the complex next week, and I was going through your old room and I came across an answering machine. Now, by the looks of it, you have some messages and I thought you would like to have them, because they are of course yours. I found out your new number by my nephew who works in Boston. Don't worry, I'm not trying to stalk you, let me assure you of that. I am but an
old man who wants to give people what is there's."

"Oh…Well, thank you sir." Jessie managed to get out. Meanwhile, Katie watched Jessie's facial expressions and lack of talking and of course her curiosity was getting the best of her.

"Now, if my memory serves me right, the answering machine with the tape should be arriving to your house rather soon, or you should have already gotten it," Mr. Snow replied.

"Well, let me go check, we have a new mail carrier who likes to come and go as they please," Jessie joked and made her way towards the front door with her phone against her ear and a curious fiancée by her side. She opened the door and found a package fit in between the glass door and the heavy oak one.

"Ok, I have it. Thank you sir."

"It was nothing dear. Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

"Well…" Katie began.

"Well what?"

"What is it?"

"Oh, it's my answering machine from London." Katie interested look took a short break.

"Oh. Well," she began. "Let's see who left you a message!"

"I'm not sure we want to do that, but if you want to." Jessie was a little bit worried as to the contents, considering Jessie was still using the answering machine after she broke things off with Sarah so many years ago.

So they went over to the couch, opened up the box, took out the machine, plugged it in and pressed MESSAGES.

*"Hi, this is Jessie, I'm busy at the moment so please leave your name and number and I'll be sure to get back to you. Bye! … BEEP"

"There's a thousand words that I could say
To make you come home, yeah
Seems so long ago you walked away
And left me alone
And I remember what you said to me,
You were acting so strange
And maybe I was too blind to see
That you needed a change

Was it something I said, to make you turn away
To make you walk out and leave me cold
(Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm)
If I could just find a way
To make it so that you were right here,
right now

I've been sitting here
Can't get you off my mind (Can't get you off my mind)
I'm tryin' my best to be a man and be strong
I drove myself insane
Wishing I could touch your face (I could touch your face)
But the truth remains,

You're gone
You're gone
Baby you're gone (you're gone)
Baby girl you're gone
You're gone, you're

Now I don't wanna make excuses, baby
Won't change the fact that your gone (no, no)
But if there's something that I could do,
Won't you please let me know
The time is passing so slowly now,
Guess that's my life without you (Guess that's my life without you)
And maybe I could change my everyday,
But baby I don't want to

So I'll just hang around and find some things to do
To take my mind off missing you (take my mind off missing you)
And I know in my heart, you can't say that you don't love me too
Please say you do, yeah

Chorus:
I've been sitting here (Sitting here)
Can't get you off my mind (Can't get you off my mind)
I'm tryin my best to be a man and be strong (My best to be a man and
be strong)
I drove myself insane
Wishing I could touch your face (Wishing I could touch your face)
But the truth remains, (Truth remains)

You're gone
You're gone
You're gone (you're gone)
You're gone
You're gone

What will I do if I can't be with you?
Tell me where will I turn to, baby who will I be?
Now that we are apart, am I still in your heart?
Baby why don't you see that I need you here with me?

Chorus:
I've been sitting here (Sitting here)
Can't get you off my mind (Can't get you off my mind)
I'm tryin my best to be a man and be strong (My best to be a man)
I drove myself insane
Wishing I could touch your face (Ooh touch you baby)
But the truth remains (The truth remains)

I've been sitting here (Sit in here)
Can't get you off my mind (Can't get you off my mind)
I'm tryin my best to be a man and be strong (My best to be a man)
I drove myself insane (Ooh)
Wishing I could touch your face (Ooh)
But the truth remains, (Ooh, Maybe the truth is yours)

You're gone
You're gone
You're gone (you're gone)
Baby girl you're gone
You're gone

But the truth remains, you're…

Jess, I know you're there, please, just pick up the phone. Sarah."
