The
College Years
by Katie
Synopsis: This is the next day after Katie's journal entry. Because their majors are completely different (J-medicine and K-economics/business) they could only manage to get one class with each other, Modern Theatre: The Innovation to the Human Mind. (Jessie has Intro to the Human Anatomy, Advanced Biological Chemistry, Pre-Med Studies, and Music Theory. Katie has Business Economics, Business Ethics 101, Economics of the Twenty First Century, and Art 3-D: Discovering Object's Form) The girls had just gotten out of their first class and went down one of the sidewalks along the campus and met up with each other.
PART 2
Fall 2005
Katie had just sat through a two and a half hour lecture from one of THE most boring
professors she had ever listened to. Dr. Henry Kissinger, head of the Economic Department,
was a very intelligent man, Katie highly agreed with that, but he just droned on and on
and on! She had to listen to Kissinger on every Monday, Thursday, and Friday for the next
six weeks, she honestly didn't know if she was going to make it. London is cold all year
round, so Katie was dressed for the weather with an off-white ribbed sweater, a pair of
dark blue denim flares, a pair of black docs (Dr. Martens) and a tan/dark brown pea coat.
With her backpack in tact, she headed out of the Economic Building and towards the Modern
Arts building, but more importantly, to her amazingly sweet and beautiful girlfriend,
Jess.
As Katie turned the last corner, Jessie was now in her view. Jessie was also dressed
warmly, considering how today's temperature was only a high of 36 degrees Fahrenheit. She
was wearing a navy blue long sleeved tee with a white t-shirt underneath, a pair of
khakis, a random pair of white/navy blue/gray athletic shoes and a dark blue pea coat.
Jess was leaning against a tree in the courtyard, writing away on her palm pilot, with her
backpack resting partially opened on the grass. As soon as Katie was around, Jessie could
always sense her presence, and today was no acceptation. Jessie immediately looked up and
standing about fifty feet away from her, was Katie. She quickly started packing up her bag
while Katie made her way over.
"Hey Billie," Katie said sweetly as she kissed Jessie.
"Hey there, how was class?"
"Fine. But I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it through another one of
Kissinger's lectures! He's killin' me!" Katie answered with such enthusiasm, making
sure to over exaggerate his effect on her so Jessie would notice and take care of her.
"Oh, poor baby. Here let's see if we can turn that frown upside down," Jessie
replied in her best mother voice and quickly kissed her girlfriend on the lips.
"Mmm
that's definitely a start." Katie said obviously satisfied.
"Well, that's good. Come on, we have to get to class like
" Jessie quickly
looked down at her watch, "
NOW! Oh my God, we're going to be late! Come on
Katie."
Jessie quickly put on her backpack, grabbed Katie's hand and faster than a speeding bullet
went charging towards the door of the building, down the hall and to the left, to Room
1232. When they approached the door, they slowed down just enough so other people wouldn't
seem like they were rushing. They quickly grabbed the two closest seats and started some
random conversations with their fellow classmates seated around them, waiting for their
professor, Mr. Ron Jonathan to arrive.
About ten minutes later, the class was wondering if their professor would ever show up.
Then, the door opened, and in walked this pretty amazing looking woman, obviously not Mr.
Jonathan. The lady went up the small set of stairs to the professor's desk, set her
briefcase down, put her thin-framed glasses, went up to the humungous white board and
turned towards the class. The whole class was now silent, not sure what to think of this
woman.
"Well, as you can obviously tell, I'm not Mr. Jonathan. He decided to go for an early
retirement, so I have been chosen to be the head of this class for the year. My name is
Ms. Dumont, but just call me Sarah." Sarah then scanned over the movie theatre sized
classroom and her eyes fell upon Jessie.
When her eyes saw Jessie she thought to herself, "Wow, that girl is absolutely
stunning! I hope I'll be able to control myself this year. I wonder if she's straight or
not
Ok Sarah, we have to get back on track. Remember you're a professor, you need to
keep everything professional and not fantasize about your students, especially those who
could really get you into some trouble."
"Oh by the way, I know I'm new and all, but rumors spread fast, especially in
England. Allow me to clarify some things, just so you don't believe anything you've
previously heard about me. I was born and raised in London, I went to St. Mary's College
and I majored in Liberal Arts. My father is a painter and my mother is the VP of Tama
Industries, a computer company in Liverpool. I am not married, although I was close a
couple years ago. I am a Aquarius and I'm gay." She finished the last part of that
sentence with a little bit of hesitation. I mean, she wasn't ashamed of her sexuality, but
she just wasn't sure how the class was going to react to it.
The room was still quiet, still not sure what to make of her. They really didn't care what
she was, as long as she could teach. Jessie and Katie turned their heads towards each
other. Katie leaned into Jessie and whispered into her ear, in a somewhat seductive yet
school girl manner, "This is definitely going to be interesting."
Sarah found her staring at Jessie, but she did it in a way that no one could really
notice. I mean there were at least fifty other students in the room. When she saw Katie
whisper something into Jessie's ear and they both started to laugh, she immediately
thought they were making fun of her, especially her sexuality. Sarah Dumont wasn't going
to let any of her students get away with disrespecting her, especially on the first day.
Sarah is usually very laid back, but this was something she had struggled with for the
majority of her life. I mean what would you do if you figured out you were gay before they
even started giving the lectures on "becoming a woman" (a.k.a. the period
talks in health class.)
"Excuse me, you with the blonde hair and the white sweater. Is there something funny
that you'd like to share with the rest of us?"
Katie and Jessie just went from laughing to a blank stare, shocked that their professor
was getting so uptight so soon.
