::I heard you late last night // You know you talk too much // Not everything comes through these walls // But just enough // To hear the things that I don't want to hear::
Slowly, Katie began to come to. She was honestly in a state of complete daze. All Katie felt was an overwhelming sense of tiredness & soreness. As she tried to get up, she paused to review her current surroundings. "Ok," she thought. "I'm at the cabin, but something's different. I, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel different. The auora in the room gives me the idea that nothing will ever be the same again." Still trying to sort everything out, Katie decided to try to get up. Then she realized something wasn't right.
She was naked. On the floor of the cabin living room. Wrapped in a sheet. With the day-after scents of vanilla candles. & if things weren't peculiar enough: Katie couldn't get over the recurring feeling that Jessie had been there.

"Oh, God, am I really dead?? & the powers at be are just taunting & tormenting me with the one thing I wanted & never got?"
Then things REALLY started to get weird for Katie. She heard something fumbling in the kitchen.
::I heard you late last night // I wish I had my distance // I hear you crash around // And say that no one listens // I wish that I would hear you say goodnight::
Besides the quiet thunders of pots & pans, as well as the quaint smell of something perhaps burning, Katie heard the most amazing, sweet, voice singing.
"...Baby, baby, baby // When all your love is gone // Who will save me // From all I'm up against out in this world? // Maybe, maybe, maybe // You'll find something that's enough to keep you // But if the bright lights don't receive you // You should turn yourself around and come on home..."
"Oh geez, there's smoke in the air and I'm hearing angels. I must be dead!" Katie softly shouted, which caught the intention of the fumbling being in the kitchen, who seemed to be literally cooking up a storm.
Katie kinda glanced down & all around, except for the person standing there. She wasn't sure what to do. And slowly, the person came closer, person turned to girl, girl turned to Jessie which turned to Jessie in a bedsheet. If Katie was dead, this was definately the "right" way to go.
Jessie just gave her this look of half seriousness, half joking, Katie didn't know which & then preceeded to speak. "Okay, my cooking isn't that bad Ms. Singer. & if I can recall, which I think I can, you weren't complanning too much last night."
"What? Jess, what are you talking about?"
"Umm...please do not tell me you forgot about last night."
"No, I remember last night all right. But the question is, do you?"
"Well, I was there, wasn't I? Is there something wrong Katie?"
"I'm...I"m not sure."
"Yeah, I can tell. Maybe I should have ignored your requests to not see a doctor then."
"You mean, after I tried to kill myself?"
Jessie stopped dead in her tracks. "What did you just say?"
"You mean, after I tried to kill myself?" Katie was really confused now.
"Sweetie, are you sure you're okay? Maybe last night was too much."
"I'm so lost right now. I tried to kill myself. I had the gun, the suicide note, everything. From what I've been picking up on, it's like...like, we made love or something."
"Well, we did," Jessie stated point blank. "...& you tried." Katie all of a sudden went completely ghostly white. Jess quickly picked up on it & rushed towards her friend. Girlfriend, ex-girlfriend, lover, whatever, all Jessie knew was that she was sick & tired of all the games of it all. "Let us be whatever we are." That was Jessie's new motto over the course of her stay with Katie. "In case I didn't put enough emphasis in it, the key word there would be 'TRIED' as in attempted, yet didn't fully succeed. I found you just after you pulled the trigger. Luckily for you, the powers at be wanted you here, & you didn't have to suffer the consequences of russian roulette. God Katie, why did you think that it would be the answer??"
As Katie began to speak, uncontrollable tears started, & never seemed to end.
