slowly jessie began to regain conscienceness. completely puzzled by her surroundings, she shot up from jazz's arms, her eyes darting around the room.
"whoa j, are you ok?" jazz was very worried. maybe because the last & only time she ever saw jessie faint was when she was still aneorexic.
"yeah, why don't you sit down or something jessie." katie was trying to think on her feet. she'd never seen anyone actually pass out before. even with her past clubbing experience thus including heavy drinking & partying, no one had ever just collapsed like that so quickly. to be perfectly honest, even though she wasn't supposed to care, she did. "here," katie quickly offered, "have some of my water."
jessie finally settled down, at least long enough for jazz & katie to say what happened.
"...j, i don't want to bring this up, but i have to ask," jazz paused. she didn't want jessie to get offended. the girl had finally come back into her life. jazz wasn't about to jeopardize her second chance. "you haven't stopped eating, have you?" jazz was so nervous that she'd just opened a can of worms.
katie turned pale white. "i never knew billie was aneorexic. oh my god, that must have been awful. i hope she hasn't begun an old distructive path because of me," katie just kept thinking that to herself as jessie began to speak.
"what? no. i would never do that again. times have been rough, but i know i can't go that route again. with hurting everyone around me that i loved, as well as destroying myself in more than one way, i just couldn't do it." she then turned her attention away from jazz & over to katie, who was staring off into space by the doorway. "katie...katie...are you ok?"
instantly, katie was twelve again. as if time had managed to go back to a darker time in katie's past, her surroundings were that of one of the worst days of her life. incidentally enough, katie jerked, still living as haunting past & managed to hit jessie pretty hard in the process. within an instant, katie was back to reality & felt horrible. katie had grown to throw a pretty hard right jab, from all those years of self-defense classes, tae kwon do, & kickboxing, for her own good. now, she actually physically hurt the one she wished she could heal.
jessie was simply dumbstruck by katie's actions. she slowly began to back away from katie, moving closer into the room, & into jazz's protective boundaries, clutching her arm, which was beginning to bruise. katie started to cry & before she could even begin to apologize, jazz stepped forward, with a protective arm around jessie.
"don't take another step singer." jazz was enraged. she couldn't believe she hired someone that would hurt another human being without any real reason to. "why don't you just leave & cool off." her tone was cool & crisp, one not to argue with.
"look jasmine, i didn't mean to." she paused & turned to jess. "honestly billie, i never meant to hurt you." as hard as she tried to fight it, tiny tear drops began to form around her eyes. jessie didn't know how to react. no one had ever hit her, especially like that. seeing katie out of the blue like that after their very messy, yet unofficial breakup to katie actually assulting her, was just beyond comprehension.
"just now, or when you broke my heart?" jess was letting her darker side take over. jess was actually believing that she was in love with katie & that maybe the could have worked things out, but now? katie may have gone too far. "i mean god katie, where do you come off?"
"i, i didn't mean to."
"sure, just like you didn't mean to not tell me about that girl."
"wait jess, that's not fair."
"oh, yes it is. you hurt me so much & now it's time i do the same to you, to make you feel the pain i've held inside lately.
"don't bother." katie quickly brushed off her tears & left the office, trying not to make a bigger scene. just as she was getting her bag & heading for the door, jessie yelled for her to stop.
"give me one good reason why i shouldn't step on your heart or whatever's in there right now." katie was lost. when she looked into jessie's cold, heartless sparkling eyes, she felt like dying. katie looked straight at jessie & simply replied," because you already did." with that she turned a walk into a run towards her car & sped off.
jessie stopped cold in her tracks. "oh no, what have i done now?" she didn't even realize her own tears beginning to fall down her face.
meanwhile, jazzz stood in her office, not completely sure what to make of what just happened.
