**********

All her life Jessie had been the most beautiful girl, no matter who's eyes where looking at her. She had always felt the stares from people, and the felt the envy and jealousy from their eyes. Most people could become very egotistical and self-centered, but there was something different about Jessie, something deeper.

She stood there in front of the mirror with just a towel on examining her face, in curiousity as to what made her "beautiful" to everyone. She tried to find one flaw in her a day, becuase no matter what everyone may say, she was far from perfect. (Her chest length blonde hair was falling into her crystal clear blue eyes, her complexion perfect, and skin clear)

Jessie was a junior in high school and had never found love or anything near it. She had tried to find serious relationships, but just when she thought that she may actually be interested in the guy, he just seems to be interested in sticking his hands down her pants. Boys were helpless she thought, real love was non-existant.  Jessie had never been interested in dating girls, really the thought had never crossed her mind, or at least that's what she tried to convince herself of.

Jessie was doodling on her Calculus paper when suddenly she heard a loud bang at the front of the classroom. A tall dark haired girl at the front of the room dropped her papers all over the floor. Mrs. Johnson ran to help the flustered girl, and Jessies curiousity rose as to who this girl was. Her brown hair flipped over her shoulders to reviel a gorgeous green eyed girl. Her features were stunning, and as she looked up her stare burned through Jessie's chest. Jessie quickly looked the other way trying to shake off the feeling this girls look had just given her.

"Class this is Katie. She is a junior who just moved here from New York."

Katie, hmmm, thought Jessie, that's a great name. The brown haired girl took a seat next to her (of course), and her scent filled the air. She smelled so good Jessie thought, sh*t, who cares what she smells like. WHat's going on with my emotions right now Jessie thought, i've never looked at a girl like this before.

It had been three months since Katie came into Jessie's life, and she had already begun to change it. Jessie and Katie became the best of friends, basically connected at the hip. They told each other everything, from their favorite movie, to Jessies self-esteem issues, to Katies basically non-existant family. It was so wierd that Jessie had met someone like this, becuase no one, not even her family could get her to talk to them about her problems, and she couldn't tell Katie enough.

Sometimes it freaked Jessie out since she'd never met anyone like this, she was afriad it may one day dissapear.

It was Jessies birthday, and she hadn't expected much from anyone (she hated birthdays); but little did she know..... Jessie woke up and Katie was hovered over her with breakfest in hand; french toast, OJ, and strawberries (her favorite). She made her a picture frame with a picture of Katie kissing Jessie on the cheek, and a card with all their inside jokes. Jessie felt a kind of love she had never felt before. Someone really cared about her, and looked at her the way she wanted to be looked at

The whole day all Jessie could think about was Katie, and it was freaking her out, she looked over at her and their eyes locked; Jessie flinched and put her head down. Her heart was pounding with excitement, she looked up agian to see Katie's green eyes still fixated on her face. Jessie's apprehension faded, and she smiled at Katie, Katie smiled back and blushed then turned away.

That night Tad (Jessie's ex) through Jessie a party. Everyone was there, and everyone was drinking. Katie and Jessie walked in together (ofcourse) and both headed for the bar. After a few shots of tequilla Jessie felt a little more loose. She went into the front room and began to dance, everyone grinding, she felt the heat from everyone's skin. Suddenly she felt a hand on her waist, and without thinking slid her hand across it. She turned around suprised, and a little embarassed that it was Katie. She giggled and they continued to dance, their hips slowly rubbing agianst one anothers.

After a few dances with everyone in the room Jessie took a seat on the couch. Tad plopped next to her, and put his arm around her. He told her happy birthday, and handed her a gift. Jessie opened it to find a small heart shaped box, she opened it to find a key inside.

Tad led her into a room, and explained his gift. He told her that he had never felt this way about anyone before. He told her that the key he had given her was the key to his heart, and no matter what should happen she will have it.

Tears flowed from Jessies eyes. She wasnt sure why she began to cry; alcohol, Tad, confusion, it all just ran down her cheeks. On impulse Jessie kissed Tad, and fell into his arms. She couldn't resist his charm, and was lonely, his strength was a way of feeling safe. She knew that staying with Tad was a normal way of life, it was safe, and he would treat her well.

You see no guy had appreciated Jessie like Tad, he actually liked her for who she was, not just her pretty face. But it was almost like Jessie felt he was too good for her. She didnt feel that she deserved him, becuase she felt she could never like him as much as he liked her.

**********

On the way out of Tad's he kissed Jessie, and Katie stopped in shock. Jessie ran off after their lips departed, and Katie ran after hurt and confused. Jessie told her about her and Tad, and Katie tried to act happy, but couldn't help but feel jealous and hurt in the inside. There was no way she could tell Jessie that she thought she was falling in love with her best friend.

Months had passed, and the school year was coming to an end. Jessie and Katie were still as close as ever, with the exception of Jessie having a boyfriend. Katie found it amusing that Tad was jealous of Jessie hanging out with her.

"You know Jessie, I think Tad gets angry when we're together,"

"Why?"

"Becuase i see it in his eyes, jealousy," Katie said laughing." I think he thinks I will steal you away from him."

Jessie laughed, but down inside she blushed. Her heart began to beat faster at the thought of Katie's mouth on hers. BUt soon after she shook the thoughts from her head.

**********

IT was the first day of summer, and Jessie couldn't wait to spend the three months with Katie...... and Tad. Unfortunetly it wasn't going to be what she quite expected.............

Katie came to the door with this blank expression on her face.  Jessie leaned in to hug her, and she just didnt reciprocate.  Nervously, Jessie leaned back to look Katie in the eyes, Katies stare still blank. Katie told Jessie to sit down, but her voice scared her, and she told her she'd stand.

Katie began to explain that her father had to go back to New York for business. He would lose his job if he didn't make the move, and it was unreasonable for him to be in New York for five days and home only two. Of course his move, was her move. Rage and tears built up in Jessie. SHe asked Katie when she was to leave, and she Told her at the end of summer.

Now the stares switched faces. Katie leaned in to hug Jessie now, and Jessie just leaned back. Angry at the one person she couldn't be angry at. Jessie held her tears back and made up some excuse as to why she had to leave suddenly. So many thoughts ran through her head. How could her father do this? How could Katie do this? She is my everything, and you can't take her away from me. Screw this, I hate Katie, she's breaking my heart. Why do I feel this way?......
