PART 6
Karen's House
Jessie opened the door and headed straight for the fridge.
"Katie, you want something to eat or drink?" She asked as she got herself a tub of yogurt.
"I'm fine thanks." Katie replied as she looked around the room. Jessie pulled out a chair at the kitchen table. She looked at Katie intensely as if she was trying to read her mind. Katie finally decided to join Jessie, she pulled out the chair opposite Jessie trying not to be nervous about the situation that she had longed for.
"So what happened?"
"What do you mean?"
"The weekend? You didn't call. Why didn't you call?"
"I told you already, I was really busy."
"We both know that's a lie! What's wrong? Why are you avoiding me?"
"I haven't been avoiding you!"
"Yes, yes you have. You've been doing it for weeks. And after the other night…"
"The other night? We should forget about the other night." Jessie got off her chair in protest.
"Forget, how could I? I have never felt like that before. Like I do now, every time I am near you."
"Jessie… It has to stop before someone gets hurt." Jessie made her way around the table to be standing beside Katie. Katie sat with her eyes glued to the tabletop.
Jessie reached out and cupped her hand under Katie's chin. She lifted her head up so their eyes would meet.
"I would never hurt you, or would it be you that would hurt me?"
"No. Never. I wouldn't. Not in a million years would I…"
Jessie leaned down towards Katie swiftly and placed a kiss on Katie's cheek, holding herself there for just a moment. She pulled back a little just enough to look at Katie fiercely.
"Why can't you understand?" Katie said slightly weeping. "We can't do this!"
"I don't want to understand. All I can do is feel…" Jessie leaned and continued to kiss Katie moving closer to her mouth.
"Jessie, stop, please. We can't do this!" Katie pulled away from her.
"But I…"
"It's got nothing to do with you, it's me."
Katie shot up from her chair. Jessie stepped back a few feet away from her. Katie looked at her, her eyes had turned red from holding back, holding back from Jessie.
Jessie moved in closer to Katie, close enough to feel the heat radiating from her.
"I can't stop wanting you, needing you."
"And you think this is easy for me? Well here's some news, it's not!" They both stared at each other for a while before Jessie swallowed her breath. Jessie grabbed Katie and pulled her closer. Their mouths only cm apart, Katie instantly gave into her urges and passionately kissed Jessie. They continued lock on each other until the heat in the room/between them became too much. Katie pulled away from Jessie and stared at her longingly.
Jessie broke the silence "Ever since I first meet you I have felt some
sort of wanting for you. I just didn't know what until now…"
Katie's eyes where sparkling, Jessie could see this as Katie moved closer into her. Katie then pressed her lips against Jessie's.
"Jess, I have to go now. I will see you tomorrow ok?" Katie stated as she looked at Jessie's watch.
"I'll see you tomorrow then." Jessie seemed uncertain about that. Nether the less, she leant in and gave Katie one last kiss before she headed out the door. She look at the time she'd better get going back to her father's.
Katie's House
Katie woke early. Well she didn't really wake, she never got to sleep
in the first place. She got ready for school, had a quick breakfast
and was out the door by 08:20. Friday was always a good day, nothing
could make it not be.
Sammler/Manning House
Over at another's house there was racket and arguments to be waged.
"It's mine!"
Grace was trying to pry something from Zoe's hands but was failing and she knew it.
"No mom got it for me when she went shopping."
It seemed that Grace and Zoe were always in a mood for and argument. Grace stormed out of the kitchen in a huff. While Zoe sat down with the biggest smile of victory painted on her face. Lily entered the kitchen, looking back to see Grace hurry up the stairs.
"Jess, are you nearly ready?"
"Uh, yeah…"
"Ok… Zoe get your things. Where's Grace? GRACE! Hurry up or you'll be late." She called out ignoring the fact that she had just seen her daughter storm of in a rage. She decided to leave it be.
"Alright, alright. I'm here, you don't have to yell." Grace spat from behind her mother.
School
Katie, Tad and Russell were all surrounding Katie's locker. Tad was
showing them some sort of bruise that he most probably gave himself.
"Hi Jess!" Katie poked at Jessie while parading a big smile.
"Hi"
"So you still coming to the movies right?" Tad eased his way into the conversation.
"What movie?" Russell decided he was going to join too.
"The ring. It opens tonight, you wanna come?" Tad decided "The more the merrier"
"I'll be there. What time?"
"Well I'm picking Jessie and Katie up at 7. Around 15 past 7, or so. If you want to meet us there."
"No prob." Russell then started to shout at someone that was standing about 5m away. He headed over to them.
"So are you?" Tad asked as he looked at the 2 girls that were looking at each other.
"What?"
"The movies, Jess"
"Oh, yeah. 7, right? I'll be ready."
"And you?"
"Be ready with bells on!" Katie said as she gave a side-glance to Jessie who was looking between the 2 of them.
Katie's House
The day went on without a hitch. The hard part was going to be the
darker part of the day (I call it nighttime). Katie was at home
rummaging through the fridge looking for something decent to nibble on.
(KT)"Jessie, Tad, Russell and me, at the movies... I knew I shouldn't
have agreed to this. It's going to be so awkward."(/T)
Sammler/Manning House
The clock was showing that it was close to 7. Jessie had been ready
for the past hour.
"So, big date?"
"Date, no. It's just a movie. Katie and Russell are coming too."
"Oh, so it's a double date." Rick smirked at his daughter.
Jessie threw a cushion at her father who was giving her childish looks. He threw the cushion back at her, hitting her directly in the head. He was about to go over to her when there was a knock at the door.
"That must be prince charming now!" Rick said as he walked to the door in a sort of a prance. When he opened the door the voice on the other side wasn't the type a prince would have.
"Hi Mr. Sammler! Is Jessie ready?"
"Oh, Hi Katie. Yeah sure, I'll just get her. Jess! Katie and Tad are here."
Jessie jumped off the chair and made her way to the front door. Rick leant down and gave his daughter a kiss on the head.
"Katie tell Tad that he'd better be careful with my little girl!"
"No problem Mr. Sammler I will."
"Bye dad. I'll be home before 10."
Katie and Jessie walked down the path towards Tad's car.
"If only he knew that Tad's not the one to be worried about." Jessie's said trying to contain her laughter.
Movie Theater
"You want anything from the snack bar?" Katie looked at Jessie
thoughtfully
"No… Uh, yeah could you get me a soda and a bag of chips?"
"Yeah sure." Katie began to walk off but was topped by Jessie holding her hand out.
"I have mon…" Jessie began to state
"No need, my shout." Katie nudged Jessie a little
"Your shout! Well, you could get me some…" Tad request looking like he had just hit the jackpot.
"Hey I never said I was shouting everyone. Get your own!" Katie refused
"Fine, don't get me any candy. Huh, doesn't matter anyway. I got all
the candy I need… Right here…" Tad grabbed a hold of Jessie's waist
and pulled her towards him. She repelled him with a shove, and the
feeling of embarrassment sunk into him. He decided to leave her alone
for a while and talk to Russell.
(JT)"God, he's like… He's so sleazy… Katie's not sleazy" (/T)
Jessie though to herself as her eyes followed the other girl.
Katie strolled off to line up. This was going to take all night, the
line was that long it was nearly at the door.
(KT)"God, don't these people eat at home… I'll be here forever…"(/T)
They walked into the theater where there were other teenagers talking
loudly. They made their way through the sea of chairs to find a spot.
Russell went to take a seat first, then Jessie shoved Tad to sit next
to Russell. Jessie sat down next to Tad and Katie soon followed. The
lights which when they entered were already dim, had now faded. The
opening previews began to flicker on the screen. Tad tried to move his
hand onto Jessie's leg but with a sigh of annoyance, she removed it.
(TT)"If she wants to be this way… I'll... I'll just ignore her. I can
still talk to Russell."(/T)
They were 30 minutes into the movie. Jessie had been scared since see
first found out it was a horror movie. Katie could not concentrate on
the movie. She could only concentrate on the girl that was sitting
next to her. As the whole audience gawked in horror Jessie grabbed
Katie's leg in reaction. She did not move her hand for the next 15
minutes and Katie was beginning to feel at little uncomfortable.
Things started to calm down in the movie and Jessie relaxed her hand, which was still attached to Katie's leg. Jessie started to move her hand up towards Katie's waist. Katie quickly reacted and placed her hand on top of Jessie's to stop her. Jessie stopped and grabbed onto Katie's hand and began to hold it. Katie gave in. She felt some sort of relief, now that Jessie's hand wasn't going anywhere.
The movie ended and the credits began to roll. Katie jumped up first, letting go of Jessie's hand. Katie headed out of the theater with the others following her lead. They all ended up outside of the complex.
Tad was engrossed in conversation with Russell, he was blabbering on about the movie. Jessie moved over a little so she could stand closer to Katie.
"So do you like it?" Jessie whispered cautiously
"The movie? Yeah, it was alright."
"Not the movie, holding my hand?"
"Oh… I… Umm..." Jessie began to giggle at Katie's nervous ticks.
"It was nice?" Katie stated as if she didn't know what to say.
Jessie still giggling was swaying just enough to bump into Katie
slightly. Katie just stood there speechless. Jessie didn't mind the
silence, in was kind of peaceful in a way.
The whole drive home neither of them had spoken a full sentence. Tad
on the other hand could hold the whole conversation with himself. The
strange thing was that he didn't seem to mind it either.
