Summary: AU Fic and sequel to "Feel Good Lies" (But you'll understand it
without having read "Feel Good Lies"!). Jessie and Katie spent Thanksgiving with
Jessie's family. Everything is still new, so they don't want anyone to know
about their relationship. But they show a lack of skill, like all newly in love
couples.
Author's Note:
Part two was a bit short, I know... I hope this is going
to be a bit better... Thanks for the feedback! It's very much appreciated! *g*
And I just wanted to tell you... even if I could, I never would write a story
rated NC-17 or R! Never, even though it would fit in here... somehow... ;-)
PART 3
When Jessie and Katie came into the kitchen, Eli was already standing in front
of the ice box searching for something to eat.
"Morning!" Jessie stated and sat down at the table, while Katie went to get some
coffee.
"Morning, ladies," Eli turned around a broad smile on his face, "how was your
night?"
Jessie shrugged her shoulders and smiled.
"As all my nights are... sleepy...."
Katie sipped from her coffee... her face kind of pale. She had this insane
premonition that this wasn't Eli's last question. She sat down next to Jessie
hoping that Eli will forget about it.
"Sleepy?! I see..." He was laughing now.
"Before I leave... one question: Katie, have you always been this devout?!"
Katie forgot breathing. Wrong question! Wrong, wrong question! What to do? Act
as if you don't understand him... he's a guy... he won't notice... he...
"I'm what?"
"Oh, come on! Don't tell me you don't know what I mean?" Eli laughed.
Katie shook her head desperately and Jessie just hoped that she would disappear
the next second... Seems they weren't the only ones who weren't asleep last
night...
Eli went to a wall... hitting it with his fist every time he screamed a word,
moaning in between the letters.
"O-H... M-Y... G-O-D!!!"
Jessie's and Katie's faces were deep red, their voices had disappeared into
nowhere and all they could answer was... silence.
"It's ok. Jess... my little sis... I didn't know you were such a... you know...
But I... well, I just wanted to suggest that you should... do some things a
little bit more quiet... just because the walls are very thin... not that I mind
hearing you, I like your voice Katie, but... I hope I'm the only one who heard
it... begging... and Jess please, tell Mom and Dad!"
Eli left the kitchen, still grinning and still wishing he was as in love as his
sister. It was a feeling he was kind of lacking in his life at the moment.
Jessie tried to hide a smile, but she has a hard time doing so. Look at her!
She's so cute, even when she's embarrassed.
No way! I'll never find this morning funny... I'll never ever laugh about
everything that had happened. Never! Katie was incapable of moving or talking.
She sat there... stunned... frightened... shocked and horrified, of course. That
was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to her. For the first
time after a long, long time she felt her cheeks and ears turning red. Yet
seeing Jessie grin at her made her angry somehow.
"Why are you laughing? There's nothing to laugh about..."
"There is... gosh... you're so amazingly cute, when you're embarrassed."
Jessie went to Katie and tried to take her hand, her smile now more encouraging
than amused.
"Jess, your brother heard me... he heard me..." her face again began getting
red, "See! I just have to think about it!"
"There's nothing to worry about."
"But you didn't want your family to know... and now we're here... your
brother... god... it's so embarrassing..."
Katie let Jessie take her hand and squeezed it tentatively.
"Forget about it! I'm sorry."
"About what? About seducing me?" Katie laughed. "It's ok... it was kind of
shocking... I have to admit... but I can live with that... but don't tell
anyone, I was completely lost and helpless in your arms, honey... because
otherwise I would have to kill you, you know... I've got my reputation...
Understood?"
Katie grinned at Jessie who was now standing dangerously close to her.
"Totally!"
She caressed Katies cheek and pulled her into a slight kiss on the lips.
At the exact moment someone rushed into the kitchen and suddenly stopped dead in
his tracks at the sight of the two girls kissing.
"Awww, can't you just go upstairs and have your little making-out-session in the
attic. I can't take that so early this morning."
Zoe shook her head in disbelief and went to the ice-box as if nothing had
happened. Jessie and Katie were in shock again, their heads have shot apart as
they had heard Zoe's voice. Jessie was the first who found her voice.
"What's up this morning? Family reunion in the kitchen? Everyone's rushing in
and out here... as if we were standing at a train station..."
Zoe shot a somewhat angry glare to the other side of the room.
"No, sis. It's you forgetting that my room is right below your room... I just
had about... well, 3 hours sleep... thanks to you guys," she took a bottle of
milk out of the ice-box and started to leave the kitchen again, heading towards
her room, "by the way: Jess... I thought Katie was the more dominant part of
this relationship... seems I was wrong... and: Tell Mom and Dad!"
It took Jessie about two hours of talking to convince Katie that she could leave
the attic again without getting unconscious at the sight of another Sammler
family member. They were sitting on Jessie's bed, sipping from their coffees and
trying to figure out what to do next.
"I'll tell them. It's no big deal... hiding it was wrong... Eli and Zoe don't
seem to mind, Grace knew before I knew... Rick, Lily and my Mom will
understand... somehow."
"What if they don't? What if they throw me out of the house?"
Katie was worried, not that she had made any bad experiences, but in fact she
wasn't too keen about making them now... today. Jessie must have had her reasons
why she wanted it to be a secret.
"They like you."
"Yes, they like me, the study buddy. But I'm afraid they won't like me, the girl
who's sharing a bed with you. You know... you were so damn straight, when we
met... I practically forced you to become gay."
Katie grinned. It wasn't one of her funniest remarks, but it was a start.
"As if you could force me!"
Jessie stated and got on all fours, crawling to the other side of the bed, where
Katie was sitting. For the first time since they had started their relationship,
she felt completely safe about what she wanted and could do.
"I can."
Katie just said while pulling Jessie close.
"Try me!"
Jessie answered and didn't complain when Katie really tried.
When Jessie was sitting at the big table together with her whole family, she had
to admit that it was one hell of a big dinner... it was great... gigantic...
huge. So much food... for so many people, ok, well... probably it was barely
enough considering Eli hasn't eaten since breakfast.
Right now, Katie was chatting with Karen. Jessie felt relief when she realised
the two of them seemed to like each other... or most important: Karen liked
Katie. Both smiling... both enjoying themselves... great... now she just has to
wait for the right moment.
Everything felt so wonderful Jessie almost forgot about telling her family who
Katie really was. They all had a good time and Katie just fitted in, she was
family... after three days, she was family for all of them... well, she was
nervous, damn nervous, acting kind of jumpy and fidgeting most of the time,
because she still didn't believe that Jessie's parents wouldn't be very glad
about some certain revelations Jessie had planed for tonight, but everyone
enjoyed her company.
Jessie was so absent minded, that she totally forgot that making puppy-eyes at
her girlfriend or trying to touch her hand wasn't such a good idea.
It went well until dessert. Jessie heard Lily asking Grace about her latest
dates and she knew... it was her turn next. She noticed that Karen was already
looking at her and smiling widely. Of course both Moms would want to try to
compete with her girls latest conquest.
Katie was aware of Karen's glares, too and started to feel more uneasy than she
had the whole evening.
And there it was, the question they both had longed for... definitely not.
"And Jess, honey... are you dating someone at the moment?" Karen smiled proudly
at her daughter.
Jessie coughed and time stood still for a moment. Everyone was looking at her,
everyone was waiting for an answer. Grace was grinning, Eli was made a somewhat
encouraging face and Zoe seemed to be just bored... Suddenly someone kicked her,
right at her shinbone. Katie! Ok, Katie still didn't think it was a good idea...
but lying wasn't either. They could run away at this very moment, when something
went wrong. Their cases were packed...
Jessie looked at Katie. Katie tried to smile... no drama please, no drama, Jess.
"Yes, I am. I definitely am." Jessie answered.
"And who is he? Will I like him?" Karen seemed to want to know it all.
Too late... it's too late. I will tell them and I will survive it. Jessie tried
to make herself more self-confident.
"Hmm... do you like Katie, Mum?"
Karen hesitated. Answering a question with another question made all her
alarm-bells ring...
"Yes, of course," she smiled at Katie, "I like Katie. But why? Are you dating
her brother," Jessie shook her head, "her boyfriend," Jessie again shook her
head, "her father?"
Katie suddenly grinned. Jessie's Mom couldn't be serious with this. Jessie's a
total heartbreaker... but... her father?
Jessie shook her head again.
"No, Mum... I... well... I... I'm actually dating Katie..."
Karen eventually stopped smiling and she seemed to stop breathing. Everyone fell
silent. Rick seemed to have a hard time to prevent himself from fainting. Lily
just stuttered something... that explained a lot!
Zoe rolled her eyes.
"Oh, come on guys. You can't tell me, you haven't figured out yourself. Eli
knows, Grace knows and even I saw it. It's no big deal... she's in love with a
girl, so who cares?"
There was still silence.
"I always knew she's not into boys," Grace stated proudly, "you should have
noticed the difference between me, a boy-crazy, teenage girl, and her, a sorry-I
don't-need-boys, teenage girl, Lily... Karen.. both of you."
Jessie was close to running away, but she saw that Katie was almost fainting
from fear, so she decided not to.
Rick suddenly smiled, looking at the two girls.
"That explains why you never used the second bed in the attic."
Lily smiled widely.
"I almost thought I was getting crazy, because everything was so neat every
morning."
So it was no big deal, no problem... Jessie couldn't explain why, but in fact it
didn't matter, because she was so happy. She was grinning for the rest of the
day.
Even as the were already sitting in the car driving home, Jessie was still
smiling sheepishly. Her eyes staring into nowhere.
"Happy?" Katie asked.
"Totally."
Katie stopped the car and bent over to Jessie, placing a big, wet kiss on her
lips.
"Me, too."
An some more kisses followed.
