Summary: AU Fic. Ok, a little update, I have some ideas about the story now, but I won't tell you all of them. Jessie and Katie are at college, they meet and… Jessie is one of these I'm-so-damn-straight-girls who breaks all the boys hearts and Katie is the very good friend who tries to be not so honest about a few things.
Author's Note: Thanks for the feedback! I would love to hear more… :-) As you see it's a great motivation... ;-) And again without beta-reading.

PART 3

These eyes… these bright, baby-blue eyes are going to drive her crazy.

What's Jessie doing here?

Ok, that's your chance Katie. Do something! You're irresistible, you're charming… she'll love you! No, wait! Remember: Jessie's straight. She's dating guys. Yeah, well… I dated guys, too. That doesn't mean she won't… No, no! Wrong attitude. Try to be friends. She's not going to be one of all the other girls, some fun for the weekend… some… well, you know… She's Jessie, she's straight, she's special… maybe.

Katie's thoughts were rambling through her head. She should say something… anything…

"Hi!" Jessie tried to smile. Suddenly she felt insecure… helpless, somehow. It's just Katie. Damn, just some roommate! And she isn't even meeting her for the first time.

"Hi! What… ahm…?"  No! Completely wrong, listen to yourself, you sound absolutely impolite. She's going to run away! Look at her face! Look at her…

"I… I… Matt called me… He wanted some help with his maths course…"

Jessie hoped her face hadn't turned red already. Maybe she had understood Matt completely wrong… maybe she shouldn't be here…
Katie thought a moment about it, but then:

"Matt isn't…"

Well, again, wait… Matt isn't taking any maths courses this semester… oh, my god! How I hate this guy. Think about something! Quick! Before she gets suspicious.

"Matt isn't here, maybe he forgot."

"Ok… then tell him I was here…"

Jessie turned around.
Katie felt her heart drop, she didn't want Jessie to go.

"No, wait… I mean, you made all the way here… Want… ahm… some coffee?"

Jessie hadn't had to think long about it. She wanted this embarrassing situation to end as quickly as possible. Even though a little voice in her heart was screaming: "Stay!" She couldn't remember any other situation where she was lacking as much self-confidence as she was now.

"No, thanks. Really… I just… well, no…I'm…not enough time… to…"

Katie heard her heart break. This will never work out. Never. Why is it always my turn? Why do I always have to ask? Why don't they ask me? Maybe because Jessie's straight and doesn't want a date… yeah, right… And that's why she says No now.
Katie thought about it. No, that's not the reason. She's embarrassed, she's feeling uncomfortable. And it's all Matt's fault! Ok, last try. If it doesn't work, I will… well I'll probably leave the country…

"Then, what about dinner tomorrow? Just some talking… dinner… I don't know."

Katie tried hard to make Jessie feel comfortable, but she herself felt insecure, so it was some kind of one way street. This question was a "real" date-question. She knew it, well she knew it, because she always asks the girls this way… somehow… but Jessie couldn't know. In fact they're just hopefully soon to be friends who'll have dinner together. And what could have made her suspicious? Nothing! Suspecting someone is gay is never the first thought… never.

Jessie kept constantly asking herself why Katie was so keen about… what? Dating her? That wasn't a asking out- question, wasn't it? It was just… just dinner. And she likes Katie and Katie's… god, she's so absolutely gorgeous… Wait minute! I haven't thought that, haven't I? Jessie felt confusion coming up. Everything was so damn confusing at the moment. Ok, forget about it! Say yes! Just say yes.

"Yes," she tried to smile, "sure."

"Ok, I'll pick you up at seven."
