Summary:  AUFic and Sequel to "i ho'okahi kahi ke aloha - Surfer's Heartache". After one year apart, with just short visits, Jessie and Kate finally meet again.
Author's Note:  The "e" in Emre is pronounced like the "e" in "met".  :-)
Author's Note 2:  I rushed the end again! I know! But I have a few problems with writing at the moment... my Muses left me and a few "private" struggles do the rest. Sorry! :-(

PART 2

The sounds of cars driving through the streets under the bedroom window filled the air. Everything in the house was quite, because the morning was still young.  Katie has been already awake for a couple of minutes. She laid next to Jessie, propped up on one arm, staring at her.  What a wonderful dream! I wonder when I'm going to wake up. Katie smiled. Jessie was here. She came... without saying something... Katie has never expected that. She couldn't see it coming.

"Stop staring at me!"  Jessie's voice was husky, her eyes still closed. Katie noticed a playful smile.

"I'm not staring at you."  Katie grinned.

"You are, I know it. You're always staring at me, when I'm asleep."   She growled sleepily.

"And you like it, Jess."  Katie crawled towards her girlfriend and placed a short kiss on her lips.

"Good morning,"  Jessie's smile grew wider and her eyes opened,  "damn, I really did it!"

"Did what?"  Katie seemed to think hard for a second, then she added. "I mean, Jess... we... did THAT before... you know... a couple of times... as far as I remember"  Then she grinned.

"Oh... you mean... buying head over heals a ticket and visiting me... I see."

Jessie hit Katie weakly.

"You're mean."

"I know."

"But that won't stop me from wanting to do THAT again... now."

Jessie smirked broadly and grabbed the collar of Katie's shirt to pull her close.

"Jess, stop it," Katie laughed, "our relationship is supposed to be sweet and innocent!"

Jessie eventually let go of Katie and moved to the other end of the bed.

"Ok, sorry. I forgot about it."

"No problem. Could you do me a favour?"

Jessie nodded.

"Any time."

"I would like us to act like we were actors in a soap opera for a few minutes."  Katie grinned.

"Why that?"

Jessie smiles to herself. Weird ideas. Katie was at her best today.

"Because then I can say things like: 'Seeing you in the morning is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me.' or 'I love this so much, I never want to leave my bed again.' or 'My love grows with every second we are together.'. You know the sappy stuff."

Oh, my god! She's so sweet... so sweet... How did I survive the last months? Jessie smiles to herself.

"No."

"What no? You don't want me to say this?" Katie tried to look as disappointed as possible without starting to grin. The twinkling in Jessie's eyes told her that she was just playing with her.

"Yes, I would prefer if you said: 'Oh, Jess... you look awful. You have a jetlag, haven't you. Wait, I'll get you something for your headache and then I'll care for some breakfast... you must be hungry... really, because I was so damn demanding last night.'"

Katie let herself fall into the pillows, trying hard not to laugh to loud. College was turning cute Jessie into a monster. Or did she create it? She grins. Maybe... maybe not. Who cares! I love her... I really do.

"Now you're mean. As if I was the only one being demanding here... thanks," then she turned over and looked at Jessie, "terrible headache and hungry, hon?"

Jessie nodded, extending her hand to stroke one single strand behind Katie's ear. Katie took the hand and pulled Jessie close to kiss her passionately.

"I suppose that doesn't really help, so I'll get up. Wait a minute."

**********

Jessie pushed Katie harshly away and Katie immediately discovered panic in her bright blue eyes.

"What?"

Did I do something wrong? Kissing her has never been wrong, so why should it be now?

"You can't kiss me... here... in the open."

"Why not?"

"We're sitting in front of the old Reichstag building... there're hundred of people around here and inside the Bundestag has probably a meeting now. You can't kiss me here."

Katie laughed.

"Jess, take a look around please."

After their tour through Berlin, Katie suggested to have a small picnic. And it wouldn't have been Katie, if they haven't picnicked in some extraordinary place. There was a huge lawn in front of the Bundestag building. Some guys were playing football, other couples were sitting in the grass chatting. A few paces away a bunch of tourists was waiting to get into the building. And in the midst of all of that, they were sitting on a small blanket.

"And?"  Jessie looked at Katie questioningly.

"No one will care... and for the Bundestag... they're probably discussing an extension of the law that legalizes homosexual relationships. We won't get arrested for kissing, believe me. No calling names... no beating up."

Jessie smiles at Katie, still not fully convinced. Probably the guys over there will beat them up or something like that... but most guys like kissing girls... she wasn't that sure about it, but it was a common myth... somehow.

They stare at each other... waiting for the other one to act.

"Then what are you waiting for, Singer?"

Katie grinned and practically fell over Jessie, as soon as she has said these words. They both had to hold back, so the kiss won't develop into a huge making-out-session.

Suddenly they heard voices close to them.

"Hey, hey! No smooching allowed here! Stop it!"  A loud voice shouted, followed by giggles.

Jessie immediately panicked and jumped away from Katie.

Someone laughed.

"I knew that I know this back. Hey, Katie!"

Katie turned around and recognized the faces of the two girls approaching them. Jenny and Sandra, a couple, she met on the party where she made friends with Emre.

"Du machst ja Sachen. We thought you had a girlfriend."   Sandra grinned, while Jenny eyed Jessie.

Katie smiled lovingly at Jessie and answered:

"This is my girlfriend. Jessie, these are Jenny and Sandra."

Katie stood up to greet the girls, who are still holding hands. Kiss on the left cheek, kiss on the right cheek... Jessie frowned. Was there are reason to be jealous? None of her college friends greet her with kisses... what's that... that grumbling in my stomach... I want the butterflies back! I don't want to be jealous. She looked at the two girls... they're obviously couple... so there's no need to turn blue-eyed into green-eyed. She tried to smile at them... come on, Jess... be kind!

"Hi, nice to meet you."

Jenny smiled back at her and shook her.

"Sie versteht kein Wort Deutsch, oder?"

Katie looked at Jenny curiously.

"No, she doesn't understand German. Why do you ask?"

"So, she won't understand, when I say: Oh, mein Gott! Das ist deine Freundin? Wahnsinn! Pass ja gut auf sie auf, wenn ihr heute Abend auf die Party kommt! Du hast nie erzählt, dass sie so phantastisch aussieht."

Katie started grinning broadly. Pride was filling every fibre of her body. Yeah! Damn right! That's my girlfriend, she's as hot as hell... hate me for it, but she loves me!

"What did she say?"   Jessie tried to prevent her expression from turning from kind-and-nice-mode into I-hate-you-girls-mode. Yes, she did develop her self-confidence, but situations like these were a hard test again and again. It was obvious that they were talking about her.

Katie looked at Jenny.

"May I translate?"

"Klar, kein Problem. It will be embarrassing, but translate..."  Jenny smiled at Jessie.

"She said... well, that you're god damn gorgeous and that I should keep an eye on you, when we go to the party tonight... something like that..."

Ok, that isn't any better... now I'm embarrassed instead of insecure. Great!

"Thanks."  Jessie whispers.

"No problem. You'll come to the party, won't you? Emre will be there, too."

Katie nodded.

"Probably. We haven't decided yet."

"Come on! You have to..."

Sandra interrupted her girlfriend.

"Jenny, it's late... my parents are waiting. We'll see them tonight," she smiled at Katie and Jessie, "hopefully."

Jenny rolled her eyes.

"Great, isn't it? We're dating for... let me see... 6 month and I'm already meeting her parents. Dinner... tonight."

Jessie grinned and remembered how often Katie had met her parents before they we actually dating. She was already a member of the family, when their friendship turned into relationship... so suddenly... well, those were the days...

**********

Jessie had completely missed how Katie had prepared the food, which she was now packing out of her backpack. She had everything in it... some kind of wonder backpack... Jessie smiled. There was bread, strawberries, bunches of grapes... orange juice... so many things... what's... what's that? Cheese? And... eggs?

"Katie, ehm... you do remember that I don't like eggs, don't you?"

Jessie expected a lame excuse... or at least a try to justify herself, but Katie just grinned.

"These are special eggs, they're the dessert and I... well, I think you'll like them... ok, I hope you'll like them."

"Are they made of chocolate?"

Katie smiled at Jessie. Now she getting curious... great... but... but that won't stop me from getting nervous. I'm never nervous... really... What will I do, if she doesn't like the eggs? There aren't so many options: fainting... crying... running away... or... dieing from embarrassment... any others? Wonderful! I like that...

"You'll see, ok?"

Jessie nodded, even though she wasn't satisfied with this answer. It was fairly obvious that Katie has planned something... so she didn't want to ruin it, with being to investigative.

They started having their lunch... in the sun... sitting in the grass... with a bunch of people around them. After a while Jessie started questioning Katie about the people she'll meet tonight, about the party and what she has to expect. Katie was quite happy with how everything was going. The party will be great... hopefully. Jessie has never been as eager to eat eggs as she was now. She couldn't concentrate properly on what Katie was saying. She was definitely interested in all the stuff, but she was more interested in these eggs. Something in her stomach started fluttering...

"So, am I allowed to eat those eggs now?"  She said curiously, as the last grape has disappeared in her mouth.

Katie grinned.

"You can have them. But be careful with eating them... please! I'm not sure whether my German is good enough to tell a doctor what has happened to you."

"I won't vomit, hon. Ok, I hate eggs... they smell... they are flabby and they taste disgusting... but..."

Katie shook her head.

"No, Jess... just don't bite into them... open them... ok?"

"But I am supposed to eat them, am I?"

Katie shook her head again, now suppressing her laugh.

"Just open them... god... stop discussing, Jessie! This moment is supposed to be romantic not analytic. Open them!"

Romantic? The fluttering in her stomach increased it's pace... Damn... has she planned? Is she?

Jessie carefully broke the shell... wondering why the eggs were so light weighted... when something silvery shimmering rolled out of the opened shell, which was filled with cotton wool, into her lap.

Oh, my god! Jessie didn't know what to say or do, as she spotted the small, sliver ring laying in her lap. Panic? Is that panic? Is really proposing right now?

"That's a silver ring... isn't it?"

"To be precise it's platinum... and... I..."

Stop stuttering! How can I? She's looking like she's passing out every moment.

"Is that? Are you? I mean... we..."

Ok, she's stuttering too. I should explain.

"No... I mean I would have... but... ok... see... I'm not really proposing... that is what you meant, isn't it,"  Jessie nodded, "because we talked about it... and I remember that we both said, that it's senseless to get engaged, when it's impossible to marry... and... that we don't need a paper with our signatures to know that we love each other... am I right?"

Jessie nodded, still a bit petrified.

"But I saw so many couples... who, well who say almost the same... but they're wearing rings... just for... I don't know. So, we show we belong together... or something like that... Jess... could you please say something, because I'm starting to babble and I suppose that won't make the situation more romantic. Just tell me if you think it's a dumb idea."

"It must have been expensive."  was all Jessie got out of her mouth.

Katie smiled.

"First of all, that wasn't the answer I expected and to be honest: There are two of them," she fumbled another ring out of the pocket of her jeans, "so double the price you have got in mind."

And then finally Jessie grinned.

"This advertisement agency must pay you well..."

"Yes... they do. You haven't answered yet!"

Jessie bent over, kissed Katie and then whispered, her lips close to Katie's ear:  "I love the idea."

**********

They made their way through a dark alley. The path was cover with rough pebbles. The crying of cats was audible in the dark.

"Is this really the right way, Katie? This... well... this neighbourhood is a bit... hmm... suspect. I mean... there's no one here."  Jessie got a bit insecure, when they entered another alley.

Katie grinned and stopped walking.

"Be quite and listen."

Jessie stopped and listened closely. Nothing! She couldn't hear anything... she held Katie's hand tighter.

"That's not another surprise isn't it."

Katie shook her head.

"No... listen! One can already hear the music."

Yes... ok... very low... very, very... low... But there were some sounds... basses... talking people... something like that.

"But this doesn't explain this... this... this way we're going. What do I have to expect... some dirty, old... dive... or whatever, where gay people hang around... have sex in the restrooms... and..."

Katie started laughing hard and pulled Jessie close into a kiss to silence her.

"Of course, normally it's that way... and I expect us to have some fun in the restrooms, too..." Katie took Jessie's hand again and went on walking, "but not today... we're just taking the back entrance, so we'll get in for free. Emre is waiting there for us, I called him, when you had a shower."

Jessie smiled broadly. How much did she miss this... how much did she miss her... then she hit Katie.

"You're teasing me. Stop it!"

Katie shook her head playfully.

"No... well," she smiled at her girlfriend, "ok... I stop it."

"Thanks."

The basses grew louder. Jessie recognized the swinging sounds of oriental music and grinned as she realized that something in her hips desperately wanted to start dancing.

"Sexy."  She stated dryly to hide her nervousness. First... only gay party... maybe it's Sodom and Gomorra... something like that.

"You're nervous."

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are. Your hand is shaking."

"I don't know what I have to expect, so I'm nervous. It's logical."

Katie rolled her eyes.

Then suddenly she heard Emre's voice: "Kat! Hey! Come on! Beeil dich!"  He stood in the doorframe of a heavy black door. From the inside yellow und red flashes of light lightened the night.

Katie started running and pulled Jessie after her. They hurried inside and Emre shut the door.

"Why did we have to hurry, Emre? You said we had time until about 11 o'clock."

Emre grinned.

"It is 11 o'clock and they were already asking who I'm waiting for," he eyed Jessie, "so, that's the famous Jessie... nice to meet you."  He extended his hand and smiled warmly.

Jessie nodded absently, the atmosphere of the party has already caught her. With eyes wide open she eyed the dancing crowd. So many people... oh, my god! So many people!  Instinctively she grabbed Katie's hand, just to be sure she won't loose her in the crowd.

Emre had left them alone and Katie was watching her girlfriend.

"Ok, where do you want to go? Over there? Or here?"

"I've never seen... I've never seen so many gay people... in just one place."

Katie laughs.  "Try to get used to it, honey! And stop fidgeting, doesn't suit you!"

All of a sudden a bunch of girls fell upon Katie, hugged and kissed her without even asking... giggling. Luckily, Jessie recognized Jenny as one of them, so her jealousy had no chance to come up again. Even though she didn't like the sight of Katie surrounded by several girls, who talk to her all at once. She tried to understand what they were saying although some of it was German and... she tried to hold Katie's hand tighter, which seemed to slip away slowly.

"That's your girlfriend? Oh, my god!"  A voice shouted.

"Now we know why you hid her... afraid we would chat her up?"  A grinning girl said.

Katie frowned playfully.

"Chat her up!? Lay your hands on her and you'll never be happy again! I know you jump at every girl you see, but touch Jessie and I'll show you what pain is. Understood?"

They laughed and the girl fiercely shook her head.

"I'm not jumping at every girl I see."

"You do! We all know."  Another girl threw in.

"Yes... and I know, too. Well... who did you wake up next to this morning?"  Katie grinned.

"Barbara."  The girl answered proudly.

"Great, what's her last name? Do you have her number?"

Suddenly the girl started to stutter, obviously no knowing what to say.

"I... I... I don't know... and I... haven't got her number..."

Katie just shook her head smiling, looked at Jessie, who slowly got a bit bored, and pulled her towards the bar.

"I'll get my girl a drink now. You'll have to excuse us."

**********

They didn't dance, they didn't talk much. Jessie just watched the crowed dancing, eyed the women... feeling completely at ease... and happy.

Katie was sitting on a barstool, Jessie standing between her legs, leaning her back against Katie, who has wrapped her arms around Jessie's stomach. She loved the feeling of Jessie against her and enjoyed every second of it. It made her skin tingle and her muscles shiver... even though the touch was light, barely noticeable. She wanted to never stop hugging, to stay like this forever. Really... that were her thoughts: Forever. Their fingers entwined. Katie could feel her warmth, her steady breathing... She really existed. It was almost unbelievable... but Jessie was there. She really was. After a while she rested her chin on Jessie's shoulder and whispered:

"I want to leave."

Jessie leaned her head back and smiled at Katie. She didn't have to answer. She didn't want to go here in the first place. She didn't regret spending a couple of hours here, she liked the experience, but now... it was definitely enough...

When they had left the thick air of the party and had taken a deep breath of the cold night air, Katie suddenly stopped and looked at Jessie.

"I've never asked you, how long you'll stay!"

Jessie smiled.

"How about half a year?"

Katie grimaced in disbelief.

"Half a year? You're kinding me, aren't you?"

Jessie shook her head.

"No, I'm not," she said seriously, "exchange semester. It took me a lot of talks and convictions to get a free place so quickly. But," she grinned," I'm one of the better students... so..."

She didn't have enough time to end her sentence. Katie grabbed her and pushed her a few meters forward against a wall, where she fell upon her... rewarding all of Jessie's efforts with one of the most passionate kisses they've ever shared. Jessie, afraid of loosing her consciousness, clutched Katie desperately... before Katie finally let go... looking in Jessie's stunned eyes. Smiling after a while:

"I suppose we should go home."

Jessie shook her head weakly.

"I won't make it home... you... have... never... kissed... me... like this..."

"That's another reason for going home now, Jess! And by the way: You should move in."  Katie grinned.

Jessie just nodded feebly. Damn, what a night! She would have paid for it if necessary.
